Indian weddings are typically grand, vibrant, and filled with extravagance. These celebrations are a feast for the eyes, a sensory journey with fragrant blooms, and a delightful culinary experience with the rich, diverse flavours of Indian cuisine. It’s a festival-like atmosphere, making the day both exciting and memorable for the couple and their guests.
In the summer of 2024, I had the privilege of planning and coordinating a stunning multicultural wedding for a beautiful Indian bride and her dashing Polish groom. The venue, Hedsor House, is a magnificent Georgian mansion nestled within 100 acres of lush, green landscape in Buckinghamshire, just 40 minutes away from London. Once newly engaged couples visit this picturesque estate, it becomes nearly impossible to choose another location.
As a wedding planner specialising in both luxury and destination weddings, I have had the pleasure of organising a couple of weddings at this luxurious venue in Buckinghamshire. Hedsor House is a dream come true for any wedding planner, thanks to its charming architecture and excellent in-house venue events team. The seamless collaboration between wedding planners and Hedsor’s staff makes this venue a top choice for couples seeking both elegance and intimacy.

One of the key features that make Hedsor House ideal for an intimate multicultural Indian wedding is the flexibility it offers for the traditional religious ceremony. The mandap which is a structure under which the couple exchanges their traditional wedding vows in the presence of a priest, can be beautifully set up in the central hall or within the stunning, wood-panelled ballroom, which features large, light-filled windows. This versatility, along with the venue’s timeless elegance, ensures that your wedding is not only visually breathtaking but also deeply meaningful.
I’d say for me, as a wedding planner, two of the most exquisite rooms within this venue are the Drawing Room and the Boudoir. Both these rooms play essential roles in enhancing the couple’s and their guests’ experience.

The Drawing Room at Hedsor House is a welcoming space for guests. It exudes elegance and charm, with its high ceilings, grand fireplace, and expansive windows offering views of the lush gardens. The room’s light and airy atmosphere, combined with soft blue hues and sophisticated decor, makes it a versatile space for guests to mingle during welcome snacks before the wedding commences. It’s also a great indoor area for drinks and canapés, especially for guests who prefer to stay inside. During rainy weather, it serves beautifully as a space for drinks reception and socialising. The Drawing Room also opens out to a stunning outdoor space, providing the perfect setting for guests to enjoy canapés and cocktail hour in a picturesque atmosphere.
This expansive space is also perfect for a more intimate part of the celebration, like a Mehndi or Haldi ceremony, where close family and friends can gather in a luxurious, relaxed setting. The room’s bright, natural lighting is ideal for photographers to capture the vibrant colours of the bridal attire and traditional décor.
The Drawing Room’s understated grandeur blends perfectly with the richness of Indian wedding traditions, offering a touch of Western elegance to complement the colourful, festive nature of the day.
Another favourite space at Hedsor is the Boudoir, designed as a private, luxurious sanctuary for the couple to spend time together before their couple shoot. With its plush furnishings, delicate decor, and calming atmosphere, it serves as the perfect space for post-wedding family pictures. Its timeless, intimate ambience also makes it a perfect overflow space from the Drawing Room for pre-wedding rituals like the Haldi, Mehendi, or even the Chura ceremony.
With its combination of elegance, privacy, and comfort, the Boudoir perfectly complements the grandeur of an Indian wedding. I personally believe the Boudoir is a stunning space for family and couple photographs, infusing a sense of royalty and elegance into each shot. The exquisite furniture and large glass windows enhance the grandeur, while the abundant natural light creates a photographer’s dream setting.

The most exquisite room in Hedsor House has to be the Ballroom. This magnificent space offers both grandeur and elegance, with its large, floor-to-ceiling windows flooding the room with natural light, grand curtains, and intricately panelled walls adorned with lovely mirrors. The Ballroom can accommodate up to 140 guests, making it ideal for a lavish wedding breakfast or an intimate dinner reception.
For Indian weddings, the Ballroom is a perfect setting for the mandap, providing ample space for guests to witness the sacred ceremony. When florists adorn the room with stunning floral arrangements, the grand ambience is further elevated. The elegant chandeliers, combined with the bright, airy feel, create a breathtaking atmosphere that never disappoints.
