It still amazes me that people meticulously plan every single element of their day, and yet, they leave it to complete chance as to who the registrar will be, who will conduct their ceremony and ultimately end up in ALL of their wedding pictures…for the rest of your life! That random (I’m sure lovely) person from the local council cannot be erased from your story.

As a celebrant, the one thing that I love to ask my couples at planning stage is very simple…”Why are you getting married and what does marriage mean to you?”

Only by understanding this can I truly deliver on a level of personalisation for my couples. The beautiful thing is that no two couples ever give the same answer, everyone is getting married for different reasons and so there lies the foundations for my ceremony! I like to peel back the layers and really get to know my couples so that on the day, it feels like an old friend is the one who is conducting their ceremony.

The other thing that a celebrant led ceremony can offer is the chance to include some beautiful symbolic rituals within the ceremony.

When people come to a wedding they expect to see a few things and these we will still deliver on – the entrance of the bride, exchange of rings, first kiss etc.

We will do all of these things but we will also enhance your ceremony with meaningful rituals that will elevate your ceremony and will have your guests leaving saying, “that is the best wedding we have ever been to!” (believe me when I tell you, this happens every-time!”

With a Stewart the Celebrant led ceremony, I like to encourage my couples to write ‘secret vows’ which they prepare separately and send directly to me.

I will ensure that the vows compliment each other in terms of length and direction and on the day, the bride/groom will hear for the very first time what the other has to say about them on their wedding day! How much more special and romantic is that? Tell me, what is fake about this?…just authentic, meaningful sentiments being brought to the forefront!

And on top of all of this, I will dress for the occasion too! If every single one of your guests is gonna make an effort to be there…then so will I!
